There is something truly fascinating about all aspects of our culture. Whether it be history, social culture, political or, incidents that have changed the very course of our lives and futures – there are some books that have literally altered our nation. They have made people stand up and fight, or uncovered some provocative and scintillating deceit and lies existing in our government or governments abroad.
Yes, in sixty years there are many who will speak about how ‘Edward and Bella’ changed their lives. There are also many others who won’t understand that aspect of our social culture no matter how many times they hear about it. But, there was also a time when the American public thought Fast Food Nation was just simply silly. Now it is one of the tomes that speak in-depth about our culture and how we have evolved over time.
The entertainment industry was grand when Andrew Sarris decided to open up his debate in The American Cinema. This nonfiction work held the argument of French critics who said that the director was the author of a film, and Sarris proposed that all American cinema could be defined by the work of the men with the megaphones, as well. This debate made writers extremely unhappy, but Sarris was seen as the ‘Galileo’ of film critics with his assumption.
David Halberstam created a completely different debate when he brought forth The Best and The Brightest. He spoke of the ‘B&B’ that were a part of the Kennedy and Johnson Administrations, telling all readers that even though the ‘right’ schools were attended and they all followed the supposedly ‘right’ procedures when engineering the Vietnam War, the ridiculousness that happened was inexcusable. This was a man who was a sheer skeptic of these ‘elite’ people, telling the readers about his own background working as a student busboy in the cafeterias at Harvard, surrounding himself with the supposed ‘best and brightest’ who had not a brain between them. He refused to shake hands with generals who simply thought they deserved respect because of the stars on their shoulder, and the debate he opened up regarding the Vietnam War and the senseless deaths of more that 50,000 Americans in the rice paddies made some see red – while others simply nodded their heads in complete agreement.
Stephen King came along and offered one of the smallest memoirs in history – and the one that caused the biggest impact on the writing world. On Writing, to this day, is seen as the most practical and unpretentious writer’s manual around, told from the POV of one of the world’s most beloved novelists.
Without Julia Child, no one would’ve been able to Master the Art of French Cooking from 1961 until today. Frankly, without this amazing work of nonfiction, we might all still be eating Jell-O salads and other equally ‘icky’ creations.
Truman Capote had readers on the edge of their seats as he put forth a nonfiction novel telling the unforgettable story of, In Cold Blood. This genre-bending book had the world engrossed in 1966, when a small newspaper blurb about the grisly murder of a Kansas farmer and his family intrigued Capote so much, that he spent years digging into the context and aftermath of the crime; interviewing true killers and recreating the bloody carnage.
Woodward & Bernstein…All The President’s Men. A nonfiction book that changed the political culture of a country; a work that literally brought down a presidency and launched a thousand reporting careers. Woodward and Bernstein were cub reporters when they untangled the vast conspiracy behind the Watergate burglary – from a phone call to Deep Throat to the scoop that led to the demise of a President – this book will always be known as the ‘best of the best,’ and a game-changer for the political world.
Nonfiction books make our world. They call out to the minds of everyone from every avenue of life. Betty Friedan let us all in on what The Feminine Mystique was all about; while the brilliant Stephen Hawking brought us the power of science in, A Brief History of Time. A man by the name of William Shirer released the tome that is still used by everyone in this world on term papers, books, movies and everything in between – when he uncovered what really happened in, The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich.
From social culture, history, politics, health, relationships, science, technology, memoirs – heck, even the illustrious book of Zen and how it deals with motorcycle maintenance – nonfiction is the foundation that almost all of our beliefs are based upon.
Be Wisdom Publishing was not only formed to help authors become “known” – it was formed because Be Wisdom would like to bring back the “wisdom” that has been missing. Be Wisdom Publishing WANTS the next Woodward and Bernstein (although, this writer is quite sure no President wants to see the team ever again). Be Wisdom Publishing KNOWS that there are authors out there in the world – RIGHT NOW – waiting for their chance to uncover secrets, offer new ideas, explain new technologies, and become a part of American history that will last forever.
Yes, there are many publishers who ARE only looking for Twilight. BUT Be Wisdom Publishing is looking for those books – those amazing authors who write from the heart, who delve into their research, who study, create, and find ways to improve lives and become a force to be reckoned with.
Nonfiction needs to be brought to the digital publishing world. The ‘old’ and the ‘new’ must meet so that all audiences out there can truly read those titles that will – in some cases – change their lives. To begin with an eBook is to have a start in the publishing industry that is solid and builds revenue and branding for the author. It was stated before, but it must be stated again: the sales for digital publishing have been building over the last decade increasing 164% to $441.3 million over just the last few years. That’s a lot of money, and it shows that there’s potential for authors to make serious cash from eBook sales. Another truly amazing statistic is that 78% of the titles published came from small/self-publishers.
Many authors simply give up because of the traditional, big houses, not having the revenue they once had to bring in debut authors. Their “bottom lines” make it so that extremely good authors with extremely good nonfiction books are simply NOT getting the chance they should be getting. Be Wisdom wants nothing more than to change all that
Be Wisdom was created (as well as its fiction house, Precious Gems Publishing) BY authors FOR authors, to help them get where they need to go. AND, the idea was also born from the fact that so many self-publishers are charging authors a truly ridiculous amount of money. Thousands of dollars are being asked for, and then the author needs to actually buy the books themselves to increase their sales. This is highly unacceptable.
Be Wisdom researched for many months to make sure that they could offer a solid publishing platform. From professional editors who have been in the industry for decades; to the best graphic designers who create covers that will live on in readers’ imaginations long after the book has been read, Be Wisdom has covered all the bases. But Be Wisdom also went one step further – the creators found a way to make sure that the author would receive a digital platform and a FULL marketing campaign. Be Wisdom makes sure that all authors receive radio programs where they can speak about their books, ideas, and concepts; they receive postings on Facebook and Twitter around the clock; professional book trailers; and, articles in magazines and newsletters that reach millions of readers. In essence, Be Wisdom not only wanted to find the outstanding nonfiction books that are out there right now that NEED to be published – but they also wanted to be able to brand the author and their book in order to accumulate the fans just waiting for the next unforgettable nonfiction title.
Branding and social networking are the keys to “building” an author in this day and age, and that’s what Be Wisdom Publishing accomplishes. Authors receive a professional editor to work with, as well as a professional designer. They receive a full marketing department that stands behind them to get their message out to the masses and brand them for all time. And they do this for $899.00 and nothing more. There are no ‘scams’ that you must pay more for this, this, and that. here are no premiere packages to sign up for, or a demand that the author purchase copies themselves. Be Wisdom has brought their wisdom to the digital publishing world. Now…they want YOUR wisdom.
Are you the next Julia Child? Do you have in-depth ideas about the current war or the current state of the world? A financial tome that will set Wall Street on its ear? Are you the next Woodward & Bernstein team? Or, a truly incredible writer who has something to say in this world of digital publishing? Will your memoir touch people’s hearts and lead this world in a new direction?
Go to Be Wisdom Publishing and tell them! Nonfiction authors are in very short supply. They are incredible minds with powerful voices that NEED to be heard! NOW is that time!
Until Next Time, Everybody
