Parking meters have been installed in some of Boca Raton’s most popular areas, including around Mizner Park.

Parking meters were seen as a way to raise city revenue without increasing taxes. Many people are concerned that the use of parking meters will drive away visitors. Parking in parking garages remains free.

The parking meter issue has been talked about for several years. Back in 2009, Nancy Liu, a resident of Sun & Surf near Red Reef Park, said she was opposed to the installation of parking meters at the beach areas, citing park safety.

  1. You have allowed your politicians to fool you. You should have stood up and found ways of reducing expenditure. In Canberra we pay $15 per day to park in a garage, we have parking meters everywhere, with big fines. Our government depends on the multi-millions it raises each year to cover their incompetence.
